Born December 31, 1904 in Edinburgh Scotland; came to Canada in 1911; by age 14 was playing intermediate hockey; in 1925 with Selkirk Seniors; turned pro with Winnipeg Maroons; joined Chicago Black Hawks in 1927; played seven years with the Hawks allowing 673 goals in 315 games (2.13 average); registered 42 shutouts; played in 21 Stanley Cup games scoring 5 shutouts; 2-time Vezina Trophy winner and 3-time first team NHL All Star; died of a brain tumour at age 30; elected in 1945. |
